Looks like Jonathan Fowlie and I were on the same track a few weeks back when we both requested details of jettisoned Christy Clark press secretary Chris Olsen’s severance package. Here's the government's reply to our FOI.
Olsen was the popular CTV “Olsen on Your Side” reporter who gave up that TV gig to become Premier Clark’s first press secretary after she won the BC Liberal leadership race in March 2011. He lasted 11 months and (according to another FOI) was making $125,000.10 a year.
Now we have his severance package--$67,298.
Fowlie, a Vancouver Sun reporter, also FOI’d this material, and got a comment from the Premier:
“His severance was given to him according to the rules and I’m not going to comment on personnel issues,” she said.
Don’t you love it when the rules maker hides behind the rules she can change? Um, you're the Premier--you can fix the rules.
Is Canada Off Track?
Canada has problems. You see them at gas station. You see them at the grocery store. You see them on your taxes.
